Cute, gentle, pretty, nice and friendly are some of the words her fans use to describe Chhet Sovan Panha both in personal life and her career, and she is truly all that. Panha is one of the female RHM stars who have been with the production for more than 7 years.
Since Kim Leakena left RHM, Chhet Sovan Panha is an old time artist after Pich Sophea who came to the production before her. Unlike other Khmer singers or actors or actresses, Chhet Sovan Panha’s fame and reputation has built up because of her good character and performances. There has been no negative article or headline news about her in any Khmer magazine since she started her career in entertainment. This has made her one of greatest female Khmer stars as such.
For the past 7 years or so that she is on RHM Production payroll, Sovan Panha has recorded many songs which she can’t even remember. As she described in her phone interview with us, she has not missed any RHM concert such as Best of the Best or Top Music since she was hired by RHM. Though she might not have recorded as many songs compared to Sokun Nisa, Aok Sokun Kanha or Pich Sophea, she has plenty of fans and is very well-known both inside and outside of the country. Most of her songs are slow and sentimental ones which fit perfectly with her appearance and character. Her first song which people began to know her is Mouse Likes Rice. Please see video below.

Undoubtedly, it is her ability to captivate her fans with her soothing and soft voice, beauty and God-given acting talent and skills. She has earned respects from them by being professional - yet humble enough to present herself as an ideal Khmer girl.
When she first started with RHM, she was seen very close to Kim Leakena and Pich Sophea. There were many songs and videos they recorded together and they were seen together like sisters. Some people called them,"The Three Angles from RHM." After that, there was a small adjustment period when Kim Leakena left and Sokun Nisa and Aok Sokhun Knaha joined the production. Soon after, they all were seen very close to each other as friend. Fans can tell that Chhet Sovan Panha is a girl next-door type of person when it comes to friendship. She is gentle, soft and friendly. When you see her, it is impossible not to like her. One of her fans said, “She is down to earth.” That is one of the reasons she is well-liked by her fans and peers quickly.
When I wrote her profile in 2007, there was not much information about her but we are lucky to be able to have an exclusive phone interview with her arranged by one of her friends so that her fans can get to know more about her life. Chhet Sovan Panha was born on January 9, 1989 in Phnom Penh and she was raised and educated in the city. Her mother passed away and she now lives with her father who is a sculpture artist. Among all her brothers and sisters, she is the only one who is in entertainment. She said in the interview that she always liked singing and acting when she was young especially when she was in school. People wouldn’t have to force her to get on stage. She would jump on it when someone only just wanted her to sing. Her enthusiasm in art, talent and personality caught attention of RHM production owner.
Chhet Sovan Panha always wanted to be a singer for a great production like RHM but did not how to get connected with a music production company. When the opportunity knocked, she quickly took it and strived. RHM owner let her join the production in 2005. She was then coached by RHM directors and song writers for several months. She then was awarded a 5 year contract with RHM and until now she is still with RHM as one of their key stars. RHM is her first production company and it is the company of her dream. So this was like a dream comes true for her. She is very appreciative to RHM and she said that without them, she wouldn’t be what she is today.
Her accomplishments in her career included her trip to Australia in 2010 and then France with other RHM stars. She described her trips to both Australia and France as a big success. Late in 2011, she went to Canada. In early 2012, Chhet Sovan Panha was scheduled to come and performed in USA which was one of her career goals and she was very excited about it. She would be in USA for a couple months and performed in major cities with Saray Sakana. Her fans were also excited to see her performing in USA.
Great personality and character together with her determination and hard work paid off. She is now a star of a reputable, high profile and most stable Khmer music and film production company in Cambodia. She is well-received, liked and supported.
