 Click here to discuss about Meas Soksophea.About two years ago when I first wrote Meas Soksophea’s profile, her popularity was already rising, and more and more people began to recognize the quality of her voice and talent. I personally was a big fan of hers myself. She was one of the stars for whom I chose to write a profile when www.Angkorthom.US was just created. Here is one of the paragraphs from her old profile, “…that is a Khmer young girl named Meas Soksophea. I saw her the first time on one of Reymeas Karaoke DVDs. Her voice caught my attention right away. I thought she was a little, cute and young girl with a very fine voice and she could sing Khmer/English songs better than most Cambodian singers at the time. A few months later, every Khmer Karaoke DVD I bought, she is on them. She is everywhere including many CTN TV programs, etc…” Click here to read her old profile.

Now we all can see her profile is even more popular than Preap Sovath’s, Chorn Sovannareach’s profile or any other famous Cambodian stars. Check to see our Top 10 Profiles. This may change later but so far her profile gets the most hits. So you may be tempted to ask why? I personally think she is famous with a lot of news in the media so people want to read more about her, but if you think there are other reasons, please comment at the bottom of the article or on her forum.

Rock Production is one of the Khmer Entertainment companies in Cambodia. Khan James is an outstanding male singer with a great voice for Rock Production. He is the most popular artist among other male singers. He has been with Rock Production since its birth. Before Khan James became a well-known male singer for Rock Production, he had gone through a rough road in his life.
Khan James was born on January 1st, 1981 in Ta Keo Province. He is the second child of six in his family (3 boys and 3 girls). His father’s name is Khan Jem who is a police officer in Ta Keo Province. His mother’s name is Phonn Phea who is a small business owner (selling Kuy Teav) in Ta Keo Province. Khan James went to Tror Pang On Dek Elementary School. Then he continued to Thnout Chum Middle School. Khan James was interested in Khmer entertainment since he was thirteen years old. He loved to sing, act and imitate other entertainers. He sang for free or some small gifts for a party or event held in his village. Khan James would cut school for a party where there was one near by. Then he would come home, collect all cooking pots, plates, bowls, spoons, and used them as his musical instruments to practice his singing and music.

In Khmer society, if you are a famous and beautiful actress or singer, you are more than likely to have many men – young or old, rich or poor chasing you like crazy and want to marry you. How about if you are a famous and handsome actor? Would it be the same? It appears to be the same but it is only in public’s perception. In reality, Khmer women don’t chase famous and handsome actors like it sounds. Those famous and handsome actors do have very many female fans and friends but when it comes to a serious relationship, some of them can hardly find one girl with whom to develop a serious relationship unless they change their career. This is because in Khmer society there is a general perception and concern that a famous and handsome actor would have many women in his life and break the girl’s heart when they are married though in most instances it is not true.

Yem Samoun and Yan Linda Profile ***Just Added***

There is a concept in Khmer society that you can’t be successful if you are a married star or your marriage will not last if you continue to be a successful star. This has caused some concerns for Khmer stars and some of them have put off or tried to hide their marriage because they are afraid their popularity would drop if their fans know they are married. However; this concept has recently been proved to be less true as there are more and more stars still married, active and successful in Khmer society today. Some examples are Kum Bunadeth and York Thith Ratha, Yuth Chara Chany and Chon Chan Leakena and the star couple currently rising and remarkably successful is Yem Samoun and Yan Linda. They have been happily married and doing great in Khmer entertainment for more than 10 years and their popularity is still going up.

 Click here to discuss about Sun Srepich. Perhaps you heard a Cambodian Ministry of Tourism (MOT) song called Anuk Savary Rom Manaythan Ta Tai (Memory of Ta Tai Resort) by Sun Sreypich. This song vividly described the beauty of Rom Manaythan Ta Tai located in Koh Kong province – one of many beautiful eco-tourism resorts in Cambodia. If you have not already heard the song, please take a minute to watch the music video below. Then you would agree that Sun Sreypich’s voice is just as beautiful as the view of Rom Manaythan itself and you’ll know why the song writer and MOT selected her. That is not the only Sun Sreypich’s song but it is one of the beautiful songs she sang for MOT. It is a song that would capture listeners’ heart and feeling making them longing to come and visit the resort and Cambodia. It is also the song that opened the door for Sun Sreypich to move on to a higher stage of her career making her one of the well-recognized vocalists.

Many people in Cambodia are getting to know her more and more; especially younger audience for her music, styles and fashions. She is very pretty, smart, articulating and fashionable. She has been in the spot light of Khmer entertainment arts since 2004 when she first started her career. She is now no longer a stranger to Khmer entertainment communities. Sim Thaina is one of the key vocalists for M production and she is also an MC for TV3 in Phnom Penh.

When you watched a very nice Karaoke music video that lasted for approximately 4 or 5 minutes on your TV, you knew it was not only the singer or actor of that video could put together and made the song that beautiful. It took the whole production crew to work exhaustedly behind the stage to produce that one song. Some of them are producers, stage decorators, song writers, cameramen, audio and video specialists, directors, etc. These people are not famous or well-recognized by fans like the singers or actors and actresses because they work behind the stage sweating and only wearing shorts and T-shirt but without them a song, show or movie will not be possible. Therefore, Angkorthom.US this time decided to interview Tito In, one of RHM (Rasmey Hang Meas) Production directors and bring him from the back stage to the world so that RHM fans know who he is and see how he directs a song or show for all of us to enjoy.

Khmer Star Profile : Meng Vimean Rothana Profile

Meng Vimean Rothana is a very fancy Khmer name and perhaps you can recognize her last name because it is the same as Meng Keo Pich Chinda’s and wonder if they are related. The answer as you can hear in the interview video at the end of the article is yes. She is a step-sister of Meng Keo Pich Chinda - the same father but from a different mother. Meng Vimean Rothana’s father was the famous musician Meng Hun of the National School of Culture and Fine Arts. Her mother’s name is Meng Sameth. She is also a National School of Culture and Fine Arts professor. Both of them are well recognized by Khmer entertainment communities in the country for their contributions to Khmer culture and arts.
